Let’s be real. Most of the “budget wedding advice” that you read about and is making you jealous isn’t real advice. It’s more like “my cousin is a florist, my best friend is a DJ, and we are getting married on my grandparents 250-acre horse ranch.”
That’s not reality.
Most of us aren’t Kardashians. We are just two regular people who work 9-5 jobs, have stress and everyday expenses in real life that we can’t neglect, who just want to get married and have friends and family around us to help us celebrate and make our wedding day special.
It may have crossed your mind (perhaps numerous times), to just give up all the stress of wedding planning and running to your local courthouse to get married. Bring a grill, some hamburgers and hot dogs, and a few coolers with your favorite beverages to your local public park for your reception. Guests can bring lawn chairs, radios, and frisbees…maybe even play a little softball. It will be fun!
Not what you were hoping for?
If you are trying to plan a wedding with actual financial limitations, no rich relatives assisting or friends in the business, and you have zero desire to start delivering food on the weekends to help supplement your wedding budget…then LinkMy.Wedding has the following advice for you.
- Wear what you are comfortable in and makes you happy, not what will look good on Instagram – You don’t need to go to a fancy bridal shop and spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on a dress you will wear once. There are plenty of places online that can provide beautiful and inexpensive dresses. You use Amazon for everything else in your life, why not check there for your dress?
- Feed people food they will enjoy eating – When was the last time you were out with your friends celebrating something, and you ordered a dry chicken breast with a side of asparagus and some small, boiled potatoes? Most of us think pizza, chicken wings, burgers, and pub food when we are out celebrating and want to put something tasty and that makes us happy in our stomachs.
- Forget the DIY guilt – All of these Instagram videos are stressing you out and making you feel like you are a failure because you don’t have the time or skill to make all these decorations that nobody will remember. If crafting isn’t your thing, buy at a discount store or skip entirely.
Your wedding isn’t an audition for Pinterest…it’s a celebration of two people who have realized that they want to hang out together for the rest of their lives. You don’t need a five-course meal, designer décor, or a venue with its own hashtag to make it meaningful. Whether it’s a ceremony at your church, a quick “I Do” at town hall followed by drinks at your local pub, or a backyard party with mis-matched chairs…it’s YOUR day. Be genuine, a little chaotic, and completely YOU…because love doesn’t care about what your centerpieces were or that the designer tag was missing from your wedding dress.
Your perfect wedding day isn’t about everything being perfect…it’s about staying calm when things aren’t. Let LinkMy,Wedding handle all the chaos, so you can enjoy your special day!
