You received another wedding invitation…the fifth one this year!

Whether you are attending one intimate ceremony, or you have back-to-back wedding weekends, figuring out what’s acceptable attire can be more difficult than assembling furniture from IKEA without the instructions. 😩

Dress codes vary, budgets matter, and nobody wants to be that guest who breaks a fashion rule and ends up in the background of every wedding picture with people asking, “Why would they wear that?”

Common Wedding Dress Codes:

• Formal: Gowns welcome, tux optional…you can never go wrong with a sharp black suit.
  
• Semi-Formal: Cocktail dresses, dress shirts, slacks.
  
• Casual: Sundresses, collared shirts, khakis…think neat, not “beach-day.” 

Now that you have an idea of what your most common wedding attire choices may be, here are some “Do’s & Don’ts” that LinkMy.Wedding  thinks you might find helpful:

• Don’t match the wedding party colors – You showed up to celebrate…not accidentally become a backup bridesmaid. Check the color scheme beforehand.
  
• Don’t wear white – Yes, that’s still a rule. Also avoid, ivory, champagne, and eggshell as they could be mistaken for a bridal shade. The spotlight belongs to the couple, not your dress color.
  
• Anything too casual – Jeans, sneakers, baseball caps, hoodies. It’s still a wedding, not a Saturday morning Target run. There will be pictures, and you will be in them… forever.

📌 Quick Rule of Thumb: If you are unsure whether your outfit is appropriate, it probably isn’t.

Weddings are beautiful and romantic events…so dress like you are ready to celebrate, not like you accidentally wandered into the reception while looking for the nightclub next door. Your outfit should say “I’m honored to be here” not “I misunderstood the assignment.”
