We spend much of our day online. Working, shopping, streaming videos and shows, playing games, etc... this leaves a trail of your activities known as your digital footprint.

Everything you do online...from social media posts or purchases from Amazon... is adding to your digital footprint. Intentional or not, your online presence is crucial in building your online identity and can have long-lasting consequences.

• Personal Data – Your digital footprint includes data that cybercriminals are drooling over. Your name, email address, IP address, physical address, banking information, social security number...all of this can be stored and tracked by websites and apps.
• Active Footprint – This is made up of all the data that you knowingly share online. Social media posts, emails opened and sent, blog posts, and what websites you visit and how long you stay on those websites...every time you interact online, you are contributing to your active footprint.
• Passive Footprint – You don’t need to be actively online for your information to be collected. While your devices are turned on, websites track your location and device information even while you are sleeping and not using your devices...scary!

• Adjust your privacy settings on social media and other platforms to limit your audience.
• Think before you post personal information or sensitive/ inappropriate content.
• Regularly review and update your online persona and remove outdated or private information.
