When you look back at your previous places of employment, do you have managers that you think fondly of?  You probably have had a couple that were fantastic, and you learned from them. They helped and guided you and were focused on making the workplace a more enjoyable place to be. It was obvious that they liked what they did and were good at their job.

It’s Sunday afternoon and you are sitting on the couch or in your favorite recliner when it suddenly hits you... Monday morning is rapidly approaching. You realize you will be going to bed in a few hours, and another weekend has come and gone. You start to feel anxious, and your mind suddenly switches from, “I sure am glad it’s the weekend,” to planning out how your Monday at work is going to play out. Welcome to the “Sunday Night Blues.”

Foxie knows that when a customer likes you they will continue to do business with you. If they don’t feel that bond, they will take their business elsewhere. Think about your own life experiences. If you walk into a bar and the bartender ignores you and makes you wait to take your order, then when they finally do come around and there is no small talk at all, you feel like nothing more than a business transaction.

But when the bartender approaches you as soon as you sit down and introduce themselves and ask your name, that makes you feel welcome and that you will be taken care of. The same should apply to your business.

Remember the last time you called a company for a seemingly minor issue, and you were then lost in an IVR labyrinth of “Press 1 for English, press 2 for Spanish” …up to “Press 18 if you’d like to take a survey after this call.”

All successful businesses realize the importance of keeping their customers happy and making them feel like they are more than “just a customer.”
